How It’s Done — Mjolnir Time, Theseus’s favorite energy drink

In War Robots’ cinematics, we are constantly adding some small lore details to make the game's universe richer. One of the good examples is a video about Legendary Pilot Theseus. In it we showed that he likes energy drinks. And to do that we created a full-fledged design of the drink with a backstory.

Theseus isn't just drinking some random energy drink, he's drinking Mjolnir Time, a 100-year-old beverage that was produced by Mid-Garden (it was eventually absorbed by Evolife, one of the five mega-corporations of the War Robots world)

The main design elements of Mjolnir Time contain references to Scandinavian mythological images: Thor’s hammer and lightning bolts.

First, the author of this project, Kira (Lead Designer at Pixonic), created the Mid-Garden logo and the Thor’s hammer. On the right you can see the existing Evolife logo which was also used in the design of the drink

The project team made a request for the design to have something in common with well-known retro soda cans. So Kira used dynamic compositions and bright arcade colors and ended up with several main concepts

Here are all the versions that ended up in the shortlist. The team chose the skull version. It highlights the dramatic image of Theseus the best

Several design elements were changed, like the lightning bolt style and the logo placement. The skull was removed from the back of the label. And the ingredients list of the drink also transformed: Natural flavor (lime) was changed to Identical to natural

The additional design idea is to make some of the elements with reflective or fluoriscent effect

Bonus: Kira also made a modern version of Mjolnir Time. It certainly changed after a 100 years: now more poppy than ever, with (artificial) orange flavor
